This site is for the making-of documentation for the Intermod Series. The main Intermod website can be seen here. Intermodulation occurs when two or more signals mix generating a new or modified signal. Launched in 1999, the Intermod Series engages through interference. Methods of propagation include altering the electromagnetic field surrounding the electric-power grid, FM radio and boosted CB radio transmissions, launching rockets in the city to alter the atmosphere, and a spotters’ skywatch network and purging event. Developed for interaction, the projects are distributed with mailers, 1-800 numbers, embroidered patches and stickers, radio monitoring frequencies, or online forums and journals. A more casual intermod discussion can be found here.

And finally, the finished 2005 Audio Relay. It can be powered by any electrical outlet or it can run off of a car battery. The solar panels are designed to recharge the battery or you can recharge the battery by simply plugging the unit into an electrical outlet while the battery is connected.

Here’s a shot of the front of the unit with the drawers installed. The shelves were something I found on an industrial supply site. They just happen to be the right size to hold a CD. I painted them to match the unit. They slide out on drawer slides.
